History: Dante didn't quite have the best of childhoods, after all, she is the daughter of the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. She also wasn't his only child. Sparda and his wife Eva had twins, one girl, Dante, and one boy, Vergil. After the death of Sparda, when the twins were still young, they were attacked by demons and Eva was killed trying to protect her children. Dante survived while her twin brother didn't.
Or so she thought. As the years went by, she met up with Enzo Ferino and began hunting demons. When their partnership ended, Dante decided to open up her own shop. That's when things really started getting weird, even for her. Before she could even name it, Enzo came to her with a job to find a kid. During the job, she finds out that it was actually a demon that hired her, hoping to see the strength of one of the 'Children of Sparda'. However, that wasn't the strangest thing. The kid she saved ended up stealing the amulet half that her mother had given her, making Dante have to chase her down. After finding the kid, she ran into someone else. Her twin brother, Vergil, whom she thought was dead.
A quick fight later and she's got her half of the amulet that their mother gave them and Vergil's ran off again, for what, she's not sure. At least, for now.
Fast forward a few weeks or months (I'm not too sure, its hard to tell with things like this) and Dante still hasn't named her shop, but that doesn't stop someone named Arkham from finding her and giving her a special invitation from her brother. After killing the demons that wreck her still unnamed shop, Dante decides that she's going to go find her brother and put and end to all of this. As glad as she is to know that he is still alive, Dante's more interested in what kind of time she'll have in the tower.
Things really start to kick up when she finally makes it to the tower. Before she can even get inside, she's got to prove herself to the door guard, a 3-headed dog demon by the name of Cerberus. After taking the puppy out and gaining a nice new weapon, Dante heads deeper inside. She continues to climb the tower, hoping that she'll find her brother and figure out what in the world he's planning on doing. She has a rough idea, since she remembers the stories of a tower like this that she was told about as a child.
Her trip up the tower isn't an easy one. She has to fight demon after demon, even though they're rather weak and door guardians (who give her nice new weapons) at certain points. She's not the only one going up the tower though, at one point, she actually caught onto something rather interesting. Literally. While making her way up to another level, she caught something that was falling off of the tower. It happens to be a woman, one that she met briefly when she first entered the tower. After a short conversation and a bullet to the head later, Dante drops the woman and continues up the tower.
When she finally makes it to the top of the tower, her twin brother is waiting. And he wasn't waiting for a lovely family reunion. He wanted the necklace that Dante wore. Apparently it was needed to help unlock the seals on the tower and open up a portal to the demon world, where Vergil could get more of Sparda's power. Dante, not wanting to give up something that her mother gave her, refused and the fight was on. It didn't end well for Dante, who ended up getting her own sword right in the middle of her chest.
With Rebellion (her sword) stuck in her chest, something very interesting happens. It activates demonic powers that were hidden inside of Dante, bringing out her 'Devil Trigger' mode. She wakes up and rushes at Vergil, who was about to go down into the basement of the tower with her necklace, and nearly loses a hand by punching his sword. Vergil manages to knock Dante out for long enough to get out of there. When she finally comes to, Dante has to spend some time wrangling her demon side. When she's finally ready, she heads off to find her brother.
When she makes it to the basement, it becomes obvious that Vergil tried to unlock the tower's seals and failed. Thinking that more of Sparda's blood was needed, he goes after Dante and the two of them end up fighting again. That is, until that same woman that shot Dante earlier, interrupts the fight. The woman, nicknamed "Lady" by Dante, was searching for Arkham, the man who was helping Vergil unlock the tower (and gave Dante that oh so lovely 'invitation'), who also happened to be her father.
It turns out that Arkham was not only Lady's father and helping out Vergil, he was also a demon named Jester that Dante had ran into a couple of times as she made her way up the tower. He revealed that it wasn't Sparda's blood that needed to be spilled, but the blood of a human priestess, one that Lady was related to. After injuring Lady, Arkham undid the seals on the tower and headed for the demon world, where most of Sparda's power was sealed. Not wanting him to get it, Dante and Vergil follow.
By the time they get to the demon world, Arkham has manged to get his hands on the Force Edge, the sword of Sparda and the artifact that has most of his power sealed within it. However, he's unable to fully unlock the sword's power and before he can really try, Dante and Vergil work together to put a final end to him. Well, maybe not so final. They get Force Edge away from Arkham and send him back to the human world, where Lady finally ends him with a full clip to the head.
Now all that's left to figure out is who gets the Force Edge. Vergil wants it because he wants more power and Dante just wants to make sure that her brother doesn't get it. Since the twins couldn't agree on who got the sword, the only way to figure it out was to fight. After a long, tough fight, Dante finally is able to take the Force Edge from Vergil, along with her half of the necklace that opened the portal to the demon world. With the two halves of the necklace apart, the portal was closing. Dante, not wanting to leave her twin brother, tried to get him to come back with her, but he had decided to stay in the demon world. He falls back off of the cliff where they had been fighting, forcing Dante to head back into the human world before the portal closed.
However, the human world wasn't where she ended up at all. Instead of landing back on the top of the tower, she ended up in a rather colorful place known as Ponyville. It was a rather large shock for her, since she was expecting to go back to a demonic tower and not a town that looked like it belonged in a children's show.
Things got even more interesting when she met a demon that claimed he knew another version of her, two other versions of herself, another version of her twin brother, and her parents. It was a lot for her to take in, but she took it as well as she could, which for her meant sarcasm and a fight. When the chance came up for an exhibition fight, Dante was all over it. It gave her a chance to really be herself, without having to deal with the emotional troubles that came with seeing her parents and twin brother again.
After the fight, Dante feels more like herself again and continues to wander around town and after going locating a place to sleep, she wakes back up on the tower again. Confused as all hell, she heads back down to return a weapon that she had borrowed from Lady. No time had passed since she had gone to that strange colorful town and when she had left the demon world. Keeping that little story to herself, picks up the pieces of her life and once again tries to open up her shop.
Personality: At first glance, Dante appears to be nothing but a smartass looking for an ass kicking or looking to get her ass kicked, depending on how you see things. She's always ready with a quick quip, snarky comeback, or taunt, depending on the situation. To her, the cheesier the line the better. She can always find a way to sneak in a remark or two, no matter what kind of conversation is going on.
All of Dante's cheese and bravado hide what's really going on in her mind. Dante lost her family at a young age and grew up having to deal with the fact that she was born half-demon. Thinking about that part of her life is a bit hard on her, not to mention the fact that she just got back from leaving her brother (whom she thought had been dead for years) in what amounts to her world's version of Hell, the demon world. That really takes a toll on a girl. Still, she hides her sadness pretty well.
Dante's also rather tired of demons comparing her to her father. She knows what he was able to do and what he did when he was alive. She knows that there are a lot of demons angry about it and it ticks her off when they try to get revenge on a dead demon through her. Dante also has to do her best to keep her demonic side in check. She knows just what she is, but she's not used to having as much power as she does. After all, most if it came to her when Vergil stabbed her with her own blade. Its hard work not going berserk in the middle of a fight and trying to take out everyone within a small radius. Her control will only last for so long.
Dante also has one hell of a sweet tooth and a craving for junk food and drinks. Her love of pizza is well known, but what isn't so well known is that she also loves strawberry sundaes. She will fight anyone who tries to take them from her and has large tabs built up just from ordering pizzas.
One big thing that isn't really noticed due to all of her sarcasm and quips is the fact that Dante has a heart of gold. She will happily hunt demons all day, but she refuses to kill humans and she will do anything that she can to help out the people that she cares for. Even if that means giving them a solid ass kicking. She won't kill them, but she will gladly knock some sense into them if she can. Also, she will take on a demon hunting job even if it doesn't pay if she feels like she can really help someone out. She doesn't like not getting paid, but it happens.
Strengths: One of Dante's biggest strengths is her ability to have a snarky remark ready at any moment. Well, maybe not her biggest strength. She's is always ready to be snarky, but she's also ready to back it up too. Because she is half-demon, she can heal just about any wound that she has in seconds or minutes, depending on the severity. Most things that would kill a normal human don't do anything to her. She regularly gets stabbed in the chest with her own sword and shrugs it off like nothing happened. She's also been shot in the head and survived it as well.
Dante is also a crack shot with her guns, Ebony and Ivory. She can hit multiple targets at once and can even hit targets without even really looking at them. She's also a skilled sword fighter, able to fight just about anyone and anything with the swords that she has. Not only is she a skilled swordfighter, but she can pick up just about any weapon and master it quickly, but swords and guns are her specialty.
Weaknesses: Being half demon also gives Dante a lot of trouble too. She hides it well, but she has a hard time keeping her demon side under control. If her control sips, she will have to be held back and knocked out because she won't be able to tell friend from foe and will attack like rabid animal.
She is also constantly looking for a good fight. She will never turn down a fight, even if she might be in over her head. She's always looking for a good challenge. She also won't kill humans, even if they're trying to kill her, which can get rather annoying. She can be killed, but it takes a lot to do it.
She still has major issues with her family that can be exploited. Talking about her father will just annoy her, but she will freeze up at the mention of her brother. Having to stop him and leaving him in the demon world was hard. She's still not sure what she thinks about that.
Possessions: Dante comes with her signature red coat, with one sleeve torn at the elbow, her two guns, Ebony and Ivory, and two swords, Rebellion and Force Edge.
Pony/Animal Type: Unicorn
Cutie Mark: Two crossed guns
Pony Picture: Here she is!SAMPLESFirst Person: [
Well, lookie there, Ponyville. A red-coated unicorn is staring down at the scroll and not looking too happy.]
So this must be how it felt when you first woke up here, Dante and Alastor. Man. This is not what I expected when I managed to get back home.
[
The unicorn tosses her mane for a moment as she lifts a hoof. The coat she’s wearing is torn at the knee, right where her elbow would be if she was a human.]
At least Lady got her gun back.
[
She stretches out a bit and glances around.]
So…either one of you guys got a place for a girl to stay? I’m going to need somewhere to crash while I try to figure out how to use this thing.
[
She lifts a hoof to prod at her horn.]
I don’t know anything about magic.
Third Person: Dante groaned a bit as she sat up. It only took her a second to realize a few things were very, very wrong. First she was back in that kids show of a town that she had been dragged to when she managed to get out of the tower and now she was back. Second, her view was a bit off and things sounded a lot different than the last time.
All it took was a quick glance down to realize that she didn’t have hands. She had hooves. The half demon girl was not amused at all. She stood up, shook out her mane and checked for her weapons. She did her best to look over her shoulder. Ebony and Ivory? Check. Rebellion? Check. Now where was Force Edge? She just got the thing and like hell she was going to let anyone else get it.
She found it on the ground next to her and she let out a small sigh of relief. No one had taken the blade. Now she just needed to find a place to crash. All of the fighting in that tower was starting to take its toll on her and she didn’t want to try and think about what she had just been turned into.
Another quick look around and she spotted the scroll that she had when she first got here. Opening it up, she put it to good use. Time to find a place to stay.
